Dry,frizzy,wavy,puffy,sort-of-thick hair with lots of volume.How do I decrease volume,stop dryness and frizz?
I feel like I've tried everything!!
i use a shampoo and conditioner that block humidity up to 75%! i dont towel dry my hair only squeeze it then let it dry naturally. at the end of the shower i wash it with freezing cold water. i add in leave in hair mask with argan oil that looks gross. my shampoo and conditioner claims it should be helping but it doesn't. Plz help!!

I also have puffy, thick, coarse hair. I tried fighting the volume for years, using moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, heavy styling products, etc. In the end, I've found that it's actually better to work with the volume. Here are some tips (apologies if you have already tried these): Get a layered hair cut to avoid the upside-down triangle problem. This way the volume works with you and not against you. I actually found my hair looked better when I used volumizing shampoo (crazy, I know, but it made my hair less dumpy looking). I am a big fan of mousse - if you use it at the roots, it gives the roots some lift. Then the rest of the hair falls from the roots and looks more natural and put together.
Try to avoid hair dryers and flat irons/curlers. With coarse hair, they really frizz it out and make it look less polished. I have found curlers can work wonders - you can run some mousse through the hair, roll in some curlers on the damp hair (the best are the non-velcro curlers, which can rough up your hair). You can leave them in overnight - or even as little as a half hour - no need to use heat. This makes your hair softer and silkier, especially if you put a little polishing serum on afterwards. If you're dead set on straight hair, I would get a extra large round boar bristle brush to use with your hair dryer, and get a special attachment for the hair dryer to focus the air on a small portion of the hair (like the attachment here):

Unfortunately with coarse/dry hair, I've found I really have to style it in some way (a bit of hair dryer or curlers) to make it look polished. If you're trying to find a way to keep your hair from being frizzy without styling it, I have also not figured this out either! Makes one wish 80s hair would come back, not just the fashions
