What do you think of my 'recipe' for handwash?
I like to use handwash from a pump dispenser because I don't like slimy bars of soap.
The stuff that I was buying from the shops was drying my hands out so I thought I'd have a go at making my own.
You put some plain soap flakes into a cup and add boiling water - when it's dissolved pour it into your chosen pump dispenser and add a good few drops of your favourite essential oil. Give it a good shake.
When it's started to set give it another good shake then it's all ready to use.
Make sure you don't use too many soap flakes or it becomes too thick to dispense. Just experiment.
It won't irritate or dry your skin like the bought stuff.
It'll appear really watery at first, but don't keep adding more soap flakes or it'll become too thick. It takes about an hour or two to get to the right consistency. You have to shake it really hard once it's in the dispenser.
You get the soap flakes from the laundry department of the supermarket.
This actually doesn't sound like a bad idea..... I really might try it. I have a problem with dry skin, especially in winter... particularly my face and hands.
A lot of the lotions on the market have perfumes that irritate my skin more and "moisturizing" soaps make me break out.
